Viewing Tips

As a new and exciting way for anglers to be a part of the "New Generation Angler" Fish n Clips Magazine has created an online presence and platform just for anglers. As documenting fishing adventures is rapidly on the rise, the place for world viewing is here at Fish n Clips Magazine. We've combined the upload and display of articles, photos, and videos into one site with complete editing of all material controlled by the angler, no webmasters needed.

Use this section to help find an answer. Can't find one? Check the forum and post your question if a search of the forum reveals no results.

Help Q & A:

Q: How long will it take to get my material approved to go live on the magazine?
A: The site is checked for submitted material twice each day at approximately 7:00 AM CT and 5:00 PM CT. All submitted material is reviewed immediately after the site indicates uploads have been sent. After the short review the material is cleared and goes live in a matter of minutes. You will receive an email at the email address you used when signing up indicating the status of the upload immediately after the review. This will all happen for 95% of the uploads within 12 hours, most faster depending on the time of day you uploaded the material.

Q: I don't see the menu and can't navigate?
A: This site uses Javascript to produce the look and feel of a magazine. You may have Javascript turned off in your browser or your browser is an older version needing upgrading. To turn on Javascript, go to "View (Tools)| Internet Options..." from the main menu click the "Security" tab, Select "Custom" and click on the "Settings..." button. To enable: make sure "Enable" is selected under "Active scripting". Restart the browser. For FireFox or similar browsers use "Tools", "Options", "Content" and check the box "Enable Javascript". Restart the browser. An alternative is to use the "Site Map/Menu" page of this site to navigate. To upgrade your browser search the Internet for the current browser (ie; Internet Explorer, FireFox, Netscape, etc.).

Q: The videos won't display?
A: The videos use Adobe's flash player and you need to install the plugin or possibly upgrade. The latest player provides the best viewing. The YouTube videos are displaying correctly if you have Adobe's flash player installed.

Q: The secret map won't display?
A: The Google Map uses javascript to view it and we are only linking to it and have written a small API to interface our viewers data. This alone is worth keeping javascript turned on.

Q: Is using Javascript a security risk?
A: In our opinion, no. Most of the web uses it, it CANNOT write to your computer's files, in fact it CANNOT even see your files. It is only used to enhance your viewing and increase the usability of the site by, as an example, allowing compression of menu data thereby saving you from scrolling down the page; and letting you know if errors where encountered before you wait on a lengthy upload only to find out that all of the boxes were not filled in. While we do check your data twice, the one on your end is what saves you the wasted time and we can only check your inputs, not the files themselves because, as I mentioned, javascript can not read your files on your computer.

Q: How do I edit or delete a comment?
A: Unfortunately, you can't but if you email us we'll delete your comment.

Q: I tried to contact someone about a classified ad but the email/phone number was no good?
A: We do not verify the contact information and really cannot help put you in contact with the person. We will notify them that their ad's contact information is not correct and hope they correct the problem if they really want to sell the product or service.

Q: I tried to contact Fish n Clips but got no reply?
A: Check your spam, blocked, or junk folders. Sometimes the replies are sent there by mistake.
